small gasoline leak near tank
I have an 05 civic. These past couple of weeks I'll smell gas when im exiting my car. I looked under where the gas tank is at and there are stains that are 'wet' on the tank and a strong odor of fuel. When I start my car, it has trouble to do so like its cold but its not. Maybe the fuel line broke? idk. I'll see if i can take a picture

Remove back seat. Remove access cover.
Inspect the top of the pump area for cracks in the plastic that **** fuel out when you cycle the key on.
Quit driving, it's a fire hazard. If that white plastic thing is cracked on top, replace the pump module or replace the filter assembly.

Re: small gasoline leak near tank
How do you think I can guess at these things with 90+% accuracy? LOL
I haven't seen it as a common issue in my corner of the planet, or not that I'm aware of.....but cars that old are not commonly seen in dealer service departments these days either.
I could take a guess that the issue could be more prevalent in high heat areas, I think a couple other people from the desert southwest have posted in this forum with this same problem.
There was a recall on 05-10 Odyssey vans for this filter housing leaking, and the only one I personally saw with an actual leak came from Arizona or New Mexico or something. (I'm in the midwest/rust belt)..... But no recall for this on any other model.

You know what, now that I think of it!.... I installed a fuel kill switch and when i pulled the seat and the cover to confirm the cable color of the pump it smelled like gasoline.
I should have known if i smell it its LEAKING!
My guess is it might have gotten worse to the point i smell it outside.
I just now connected the dots smh

Why does your post say "Save Save" in nearly invisible white?
