i have a silver civic ex coupe... on the way home from work today (Monday, May 13, 2002) i was rear ended by a old Buick Somsbury or something like that. i was at dead stop on the freeway. i saw the car coming towards me kinda fast in my rear view. i heard the squealing of his tires when he slammed on the brakes... i managed to push my brake all the way that it could go, i put the e-brake on and turned the sterring wheel just before he ran right into my car!!! when i pulled over to the side of the road to get out he took off... i slammed the door and took off after him. he lost me for a second, i asked a guy if he had seen them pass by, i turned the corner and there he was on the side of the road. i called the cops and told them the situation, but the driver didnt speak any english, didnt have a drivers license, and had no insurance. talk about bad luck!!! now i have to deal with the insurance company, and get my car fixed. i already have a body kit so i guess ill use the insurance route to get the kit painted and installed. anyway i thought i would share the story with every one and hopefully it wont happen to anybody else.

I hate when people think they can drive a un insured car thats not even road worthy. My neighbor who is in her late 70's has a beat up Mustang. I was in the Publix parking lot when I heard her brakes grind, not squeak or squeel, but grinding metal to metal as she drove into a parking spot. When I told her she needs to get them checked she told me she couldn't afford it and she only drives around town. That was 2 months ago now her brakes are shot to holy hell and wants me to fix them [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]. On top of that she has expired tags, so I told her when she get her tags renewed I'd help her. Shes not poor in anyway but shes just one of those people who don't care about there car. Shes still driving it, I'm waiting to read about her in the paper soon.

what can be done about an uninsured motorist? like in Mystic77's case, the other driver doesn't even have the money to pay for Mystic's damage, so there is no point in sueing, but what happens to the driver? do they go to jail?
sorry for my ignorance, i have never been in an accident, so i dont know the procedure.

i talked to the insurance company today and they said that they would not charge me the deductable. as for the guy who was driving the other car the cop said that he is going to get a huge ticket, jail time is quetionable, and they are going to have to see whether or not he is an illegal alien or not. my insurance company is probably going to sue the guy, but ill have to wait and see... i just want my car fixed asap!!! but now ill be able to have my kit put on, painted, and get another dent taken out... i will try to have some pictures of the damage as soon as i can...
