Re: 90 Hatchback door dash light
Wiring diagram looks like both doors will operate the same door ajar light on the dash, so either side could be at fault......but I look further in the diagrams..... Each door uses a switch inside the latch that operates the auto-shoulder belts, and those tie in to the light on the dash.....
This is getting confusing here since I can't actually see the car and have several versions of diagrams to choose from.
Does this car have an individual external switch in each door jamb?
Unplug each one to see if the light goes out.
Does the alternator light work?
Is the alternator light staying on too?
Brake warning light staying on too?

Re: 90 Hatchback door dash light
I even tried switching the door lock switches.
---
Did you swap the switches, or just try it with both removed/unplugged?
I mean, if one is bad and causing this problem and you just swapped them, it would still be bad and keep the light on no matter which door it's on.
I'd remove and unplug them to make sure.

If no joy,
I'd probably unplug the control unit for the auto-shoulder belts next and see what happens.
Then I might pull the cluster and install my fault finder on the single wire that operates the light, and use that tool to track down where in the car that wire is contacting ground at.
