I have a 2012 Civic EX. Occasionally it won't accelerate. Just lags a lot. It's temporary and eventually goes back to normal. It has 42,000 miles on it and the engine is not throwing any codes. I have not accidentally pressed the Econ button, but the performance is similar to when I press it and forget to turn it off. Anyone have any suggestions?

Brake Override System.
Designed to cut power if it senses that the accelerator pedal MIGHT be stuck (accelerator pedal is already pushed down, then the brake pedal is pushed).

If you rest your left foot on the brake pedal, you may cause this to happen.




We seem to have quite a few customers that have had to (re)learn how to drive with only one foot.
Mostly happens with older folks that drive with both feet, ride the brake pedal a little bit and eventually it won't let you accelerate.

My daughter drives the car. She says it mainly happens when she changes lanes. She drives like her mother i.e. Aggressive. It makes sense she could be covering the brake whan she's making her move.
