Engine drop

So I'm pretty new to this but I was thinking about just getting a civic shell and dropping an engine rather than buyin a new car so I'm wondering if any one had an Idea on how much it would run me and if there's more to it than just buying an engine for it. Thanks a lot. I've already looked at a few engines around and it looks like it could run anywhere from 800- a few thousand for a decent engine. Any thoughts?

Re: Engine drop

Price depends on what engine you are going to be installing and into what year body.

D-Series engine will be cheaper then a K or B. If the engine is made for the car then engine mounting and wiring will be less expensive along with ECU.

Re: Engine drop

CL can be a good place you just have to be careful. Take a really good look at the shell before you buy it. Maybe talk to a body shop about things to look for (or Google). The shell may look good but it's held together with Bondo. If they have the title and its clean that is also a plus.

Motor, mounts, ECU, wiring, axels, hubs, shocks, springs, wheels, exhaust, interior components, engine components if the engine is not complete.

You are probably better off finding a high mileage car with a chassis in good condition, then all you will need to do is swap the engine, and replace stuff that is broken.

Re: Engine drop

OP,

you are asking a question, not giving instructions on how to do it, so i am moving to the swap engine section.
