Clicking sound at shifter on 03 civic

I just noticed a clicking sound by my automatic gear shifter when I turn the key on and when I press the brake pedal in Park only. Not sure if the sound was always there but it seems to be very noticable now. I have read it is a safety feature so I cannot take it out of park without pressing the brake. But as I said, it sounds more noticeable than before. Is this normal or should I have it checked out just in case???? Does anyone have this same concern????
