Unhappy 01 tranny, should I cut my losses

I have a 2001 civic that needs a new transmission. From what I hear this is a common occurrence with this year. My car has 145000 miles. The replacement costs will be anywhere from $2000-2500. Should I just forget it and get a new car? Thanks for the input

Swap a newer trans in yourself shouldnt be much more or less then $1,000. If you are not mechanically inclined get a friend to help out and a case of beer.

I've been reading about this problem for the past few days, so that makes me an expert on this subject But seriously, I am curious if your trans is dead in the shop, or operational but with problems. If it's still on the road, do you have slipping and/or codes, or is something else going on with it?

Be glad your daughters doesnt have the famous 3rd to 4th flare when shifting between 2000-2900rpms. A few of us on here have it, on 04 trans.
