CV Joint stuck in trans
CV Joint stuck in trans
Soo....... Chain reaction issues like a boss
-Replaced LCA Bushings/Ball Joints
-Did brakes (new rotors calipers(front/rear drums shoes..)
Then I heard this awesome vibration.. kind of like when you put a coke can on a bike tire and pedal around
So i jacked the car up and the drivers side wheel had some play still (even with new lcas and ball joints) so i took it apart and noticed that i cross threaded the axle...
-New axle
Took the core axle in and they gave me a new one... it pryed out pretty easy
Install then notice that there is still play.. Turned out to be a wheel bearing /facepalm and the axle didnt sit all the way in the trans
-Wheel Bearing
So i took the axle back after ordering a new one NIGHTMARE they had an axle that looks like it went to an accord or some **** so i had to drive and pick up one at a differenpt shop
I took the snap ring off and it didnt fit right... so i thought it may have some burs or something... hammered it in to see if the snap ring would pop...
ANNNND now i cant even pry the old cv joint out of the trans... so all this work in and i have a cv joint stuck in the trans.. was hoping not to have to drop the trans but this looks like the only solution without damaging the trans housing..
Hope nothing internal is damaged, but hey at least i might have the front end completely rebuilt. Morale of the story.. don't cross thread your axle and replace your struts!

Re: CV Joint stuck in trans
If anyone has some tips for pulling a cv joint out of a trans lmk didnt make that clear in OP.
I've heard people wedging clutch forks and using slide hammers I'm just lost.
Last resort trans shop pulls it

Re: CV Joint stuck in trans
...
good luck?
can't imagine a good way besides removing trans and disassembling it to remove the axle... (yes, a member bought one trans like that and was able to remove the axle after disassembling)
