how to replace fuel door latch
A quick search didn't turn up what I needed ... hence the query ...
The fuel door latch on our '08 Civic refuses to close -- it seems the latch "button" that would latch the door has lost its spring. Cleaning & lubing it didn't help, so I'm wondering if a part can be ordered and easily installed(?)

I looked up a 4 door car there.
Cable, part #27.
Is the tab on the fuel door bent from smacking the gas pump nozzle on it? I used to see that a lot on some cars.
Make sure the cable housing end didn't get knocked out of the fuel door cup area. Push and twist, from inside the trunk.
Check the lever set on the floor, make sure it still works right. Make sure it isn't stuck down or pulling on the cable.
Order a cable. Have fun replacing it.

Thanks ezone
After taking your suggestions and research the link you provided, I accessed the latch from the rear storage area. As it turns out, everything is fine except that the latch mechanism doesn't want to stay in place. IE, pushing on the latch from the gas door side pushes the entire mechanism back, not just the latch button.
I was able to push it into place as well as lubricate the latch button with graphite, and it is now working but I wonder for how long(?)
Final question ... is the latch mechanism supposed to lock into place? (eg, a bayonet twist) Any suggestions for keeping it place (... although it is impossible to see what I'm doing ...)

Re: how to replace fuel door latch
Yes it is, the mounting tabs may be snapped off. It is a twist into place & twist to remove type setup.
