What happens if a 2001 Civic has had the CAT removed?
What happens if a 2001 Civic has had the CAT removed?
I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX, 5 speed manual transmission. I was having some issues with it. I would be driving, and everything would be fine. The clutch felt wonderful, it shifts smooth, and drives like a dream. However, it will randomly just stop accelerating for no reason. Ill pull over, shut the car off, then a few minutes later, it will be fine. When the issue comes up, I can still shift, still rev the engine, and and still drive...just not over 25 mph. The RPMs are fine. I had the clutch looked at, the throttle cable redone, the radiator hose is being replaced, and the oil was just changed. I had a mechanic look at the car, and the CAT is missing, and the O2 senser is not working. Would that cause the problem Im having with the car?
If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

The rest of the exhaust needs the loose debris cleaned out, if this is what really happened.
Misfire or severely rich running is what normally causes physical damage to a cat.
The cat element breaking apart can cause physical damage to the sensing tip of the rear O2 sensor too.

The cat does nothing but make ur emissions good for cali. I got headers and no cat. It just boosts ur horse power slightly. Better air flow
