R-18 fuel mileage

Just curious, what type of fuel mileages do you guys see out of your R-18s?What's the highest you've gotten?

Day to day driving I usually get in the low to mid 30's,if I do a lot of highway driving its usually mid to high 30's.

If I do a LOT of city driving it can be in the mid to high 20's,but that's with lots of traffic.

I went to Virginia beach and back, and then to the beach again AND back again on one tank before.I got 46 MPG,the speed limit is nearly steady on the road I took,55mph and there are hardly any stops...The road is 460.

I calculate my mileage by resetting my trip odometer every time I fill up,then seeing how many gallons go back into my car at the next fill-up.

I drive a 2006 Honda Civic LX Sedan with an automatic transmission.

Re: R-18 fuel mileage

Hmm,interesting...
After testing,I've found that I don't get better gas mileage with slower acceleration.
I drove for 2 tanks CRAWLING,only letting my RPM's hit 1,7500 when accelerating.
One tank I averaged 30 MPG,the other 32.

Now my average before this was about 34.

Now I have driven two more tanks, letting the RPM's hit 2,250-2,500 when accelerating, and I've gotten better gas mileage.
On these two tanks I've gotten 34 and 36,both with significantly more city driving than the "crawling" tanks.

Anyone have any ideas why this is?

I was thinking perhaps it has to do with the R-18's cruising mode,I know in a video I saw it mentioned that when speed is constant it opens the throttle completely, but off-sets the timing...perhaps by accelerating slower, but much longer,I prevented the engine from going into this gas saving mode.

I calculate my MPG by re-setting my trip odometer every time I fill-up,then recording the gallons I put back in at the next fill-up,therefore I know this isn't exact, but it should be close enough.

(explanation starts at 1:30,but it talks specifically about having the throttle completely open at 2:15)

Re: R-18 fuel mileage

You should bet between 29-38 miles per gallon.. according to fueleconomy.com the national average is like 31 miles per gallon with highway and city combined..
