clicking noise, check engine light, jerky acceleration 2002 lx

Ok so I was driving home from work and heard this weird "winding" noise coming from the front-left of my car as I would have been looking at it. Then immediately the check engine light came on and now when I accelerate into about 3k rpms the car "jerks" back and forth. I also noticed that there is now a clicking noise coming from my engine even when idling. PLEASE HELP!! Don't know a lot about cars.. Thanks!

Check the oil, add if necessary. Hope you aren't too late. If it still makes noise after correcting the low oil, get it checked out. You may have seriously damaged the engine. If so, then don't worry about the check engine light.

AFTER you get oil in it: On the check engine light, go to your local Auto Zone (or the like) and have them pull the codes out of it. Write down the code number, ignore everything else they try to sell you. Only the code number is important at this point. Get it and report back.

Yes..tuned in for the Code number.. But check your oil and put some in it if needed before you go to the parts store to pull your codes..
