I just did a trans swap for a guy with a 2001 civic with a 1.6 vtec. His told me the old trans made alot of bearing noise and was hard to shift in to 3-5+ reverse. (just back ground story) I started tearing her out and right away I noticed the motor and trans was covered in oil. This made a fairly clean swap very dirty. When I got the trans out I noticed that the trans housing was cracked on the front side. That is why all the oil is everywhere, and why the bearings where noisy and hard to shift. Well I put in the trans he brought with ( a rebuild he bought off someone). I went to drive it and I live on a country road so I drove up into 1,2,3,4 gears and when I went to down shift I couldnt move the shifter to the left into the 1st and 2nd gear bank or to the right 5th and reverse bank. I ended up driving the car back to my house in 3rd and 4th only. It goes into 3rd and 4th great just wont move side to side. When I got back I popped the hood and had a friend try shifting it and it seems the "#9 lever comp, shift" (referring to the link attached) doesnt move up and down like it should. I puller the shifter cables off and tried to pull and push the "lever comp" but it didnt budge. I searched and searched and cant seem to find anything that helped me. Can I just pull it out and swap it with the one from the old trans? Please any info will help. Thank you anyone in advance.

It should move. Something in the tranny is locked up. Time for a rebuild.

Then maybe you should go back to the DSM forums? Just because we don't answer a post immediately doesn't mean we're being jerks. We have lives and the most helpful members on here post every day or every other day. You could have a linkage issue. But a rebuild may be in order.

I am not putting anyone down. It was just at that time I have 58 people to have viewed my post and not one reply. The trans is suppose to be a fresh rebuild. It has been opened recently since there is fresh rtv on the case seems.
