2002 civic wont go into gear

2002 civic wont go into gear
So my 2002 civic this morning would turn on but not go into any gear. Last night the tail lights would not turn off so I read to unstick the switch and did that. Now the I have this problem. Please help? I know most of the fluids need to be changed, would that have anything to do with it?

Check if the brake lights are coming on when you step lightly on the brake pedal.
Maybe, when you "unstuck" the brake switch (assuming) you disabled it in some way.
