Locked out of my own EM2!? Wireless entry not working...
So today I got to work and right when I stepped out of my car I pressed the lock button on my cars remote. It's a 2004 EX.
I heard the usual sound it makes for a lock. But when I pressed the button a second time to get my car to beep for confirmation the horn did not beep.
This is what I found in my doings:
1.) Pulling the handle and pushing the "Lock" button does not automatically lower the doors button. This is one of the security features to stop you from leaving your keys in the car.
2.) With the door open I can't push down the lock, it only goes down half way.
3.) With the door closed and me going through the passenger door, I can move the lock up and down and the door opens and locks. If the lock is engaged on the drivers side it won't pop up to open with the remote.
4.) With both doors open I can only unlock the passenger door with the remote.
This is what I've found, I think the little motor has become weak? Could it be a fuse? I'm not sure what it's called, how much would it be to repair it? I need it repaired ASAP.
I can only use my remote to get in through the drivers side because the door lock on the outside is messed up. Putting in the key, I'm not able to move it left or right to unlock it until I put in the key more than 20 times! So, that is jammed. I need it fixed quickly, I don't want to look stupid having to hop in through the passengers side all the time.
How much does it cost to fix both the motor and the outer lock? Can I take it to a Honda Dealer even though it's a later 2004 Honda Civic EX? Do they still service them?
Thanks.

take it to the dealership if you are not a mechanical person. sounds liek a door lock actuator, and yes they should have the parts there for it. thats if you live in a big city.
