Our 2003 Civic Hybrid has the dreaded judder problem. I have had it up to here with the (two) local Honda dealer service departments, and at this point have no intention of rewarding their awful service with a repair job that will probably run $3000 to $4000, and which they will no doubt botch.

Unfortunately so far I have not been able to find anybody other than Honda dealers who work on Honda's CVT transmissions. Is there an independent shop somewhere in Southern California that does this work? If so, please tell me who they are. Preferably it would be as close to Pasadena as possible, but if need be I would drive a couple of hundred miles. Failing that, I would happily swap the CVT for a manual, which would at least eliminate the possibility of any future CVT related problems. For a transmission conversion the shop should have done at least one previously. (That is, I don't want to be the guinea pig.)
