I need tie rod ends... Go stock or aftermarket?
I need tie rod ends... Go stock or aftermarket?
I bought some rsx coilovers and need to upgrade my tie rod ends to make them fit... I know this but should I go aftermarket (inverted tie rod ends) or use OEM tie rods? I can get some OEM's used with low miles for $45 shipped. What ya think?

OEM should be good enough but you could upgrade... it's up to you and how much your willing to spend.. how much are the J racing ones Austin?
Re: I need tie rod ends... Go stock or aftermarket?
Thanks for your help. Just picked up those used OEM ones. Spent $700 on coils and camber already...so tempted to do five lug conversion while I'm at it!

I've got the J's racing Tie Rod Ends for the EP3. They run about $275 to $300, I can't remember. They come as a set with the tie rods.
How low are you going? The inverted ones are nice (I've also got a set of Inverted T1Rs). The problem is that stock tie rods with the inverted Tie Rods will only give you so much toe in or out, depending on your drop, camber and coilover tie rod connection height. Some guys need a longer bar with more thread, some need less bar with the same amount of thread, etc. Don't count on having one set-up in mind until your suspension is on the car and you are doing the alignment. I had the J's on and the T1Rs
with me when I got my alignment. Tried both out. The inverted helped greatly with the tie rod angle but didn't give me enough toe out with the amount of camber I needed. I'm getting a custom set of tie rods made specifically for my set up.
Good luck.

i believe the j's are shorter then the stock thats why the toe issues . you can actually invert your stock ones if you don't mind step drilling your coilovers.
Re: I need tie rod ends... Go stock or aftermarket?
I'm not really trying to go too low with my DD, maybe just two fingers all around. I also looked into the Moogs and liked the fact they could be easily regreased... if I ever need to change or upgrade I may just get them and invert them if necessary. Then again, I'm not even sure I'm going low enough to need them inverted. I'll just have to see how it goes on install day.
I should be getting everything by the end of next week. Man, I love getting packages in the mail!
