Smile RPM Goes High but Car Does not Move

Hello everyone, I need your help please. I have a 97 Honda Civic EX Vtec Engine D16Y8. I just swapped out the engine, changed the Spark Plugs, Wires, Axles, Battery, Distributor O-Ring, and Vtec Solenoild Gasket, then the car run a little wierd like the RPM goes up to 3000 or 4000 but the car just moves very slow every time I stopped at the Stop sign, Traffic Light, or parking and star moving the car. But after that, it runs excellence. So What is the problem with it? what should I do?

Re: RPM Goes High but Car Does not Move

are u using the ecu that came with the new motor.
if ur prev engine is the same engine then ecu is not the culprit
but if u have a diffrent motor from prev and used that ecu on the new motor it wont run right

Sounds like a clutch problem... did you change the clutch out when you changed the motor.

Re: RPM Goes High but Car Does not Move

I use the same ECU because the engine I swapped out is the same, D16Y8, as my original one. The car is automatic transmition, not manual. Please help.

i had bad experience with auto trannies

it would rev up from a dead stop and rise up slowly
then when it gets to about 40 it start moving as normal
then later on it stop moving at all

Thanks for you help. Do you know where the Tourqe Converter is? About my car, when it gets to about 15 or 20 and up then it runs normal. Please tell me where is the Tourqe Converter located?

I just flashed the Transmition Fluid and put the new one in there. I didn't use lucas but I used the regular ones. Just in case, if the problem is the Tourqe Converter, then do I need to replace it or is there any way I can fix it?

torque converter is the piece that connect the motor to the tranny
for manual trannies its the clutch that have contact
auto is torque converter
did the motor came with the engine or did u take out the tranny
cuz somtime when not putting in the torque converter correct it can caused problems http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...RQUE+CONVERTER

Re: RPM Goes High but Car Does not Move

im sorrie dont take my word for it
i never take auto tranny off from a motor before
but from wat my dad said that the torque converter does play a role on auto trannies
u should bring it to somone to get better diagnose to know the exact problem
it could be even a bad transmission too
