D16z6 sohc vtec

At what RPM is my VTEC supposed to kick in? I can't really tell any difference. Is that normal for SOHC? Thanks, Jim

And no, SOHC V-TEC does not pack the punch of the DOHC.

for sure, check the code, but should look like that.. sorry dude not tryin to troll, lol, but you left yourself wide open for that one lol. but ya, i also miss the vtec power band (found in dohc's) ........ that's why my plan is to just put headers, new exhaust 2.25", muffler and cat, and intake and call it good on my d16.. then just run it till she dies and swap a nice dohc! my friend has a 95 ej1 with a b18 swap... i've been sooo sad ever since i rode in it, now just waiting to swap mine..

Here's a couple pics; I know it's pretty intimidating with the large plug wires and all!

Re: D16z6 sohc vtec

in my experience, sohc vtec isn't half as noticable as dohc. i have a 94 d16, and when i redline i can't really tell when vtec engages. although, my friend did a b18 swap on his 95, and WOW, it's like turbo when it turns on, you can really hear the change in sound and feel more pull

oh, and btw, vtec on a d16z6 engages at 4,800 rpm. wiki knows all, mostly.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine
