Key Won't Go Into Driver's Side Keyhole
Key Won't Go Into Driver's Side Keyhole
I bought my car used 2 years ago and back then I had difficulties sometimes getting the key into the hole but it would eventually go in if I flipped it over or tried a little different angle or something.
As of a couple weeks ago, my key will not even go in half way. I cannot insert the key into the hole. I have to unlock the passenger's side door and crawl over and unlock the driver's side by hand from the inside. Otherwise the lock works; it keeps people (including those with a key!) out.
The only thing I've tried was focing that red straw that comes with WD-40 into the hole and spraying some in there.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

prolly need to take the door panel off and spray silicone lube (not wd40) from the back onto the moving parts as you play with the handle and key turning.

Shooting some Graphite powder in the key hole may help as well.
Taking the door panel off will be the best way to get in there and clean it up and lube it well though.

If you have kids ask what was stuck in there. If no luck with that there could be a toothpick or a twig in there.
It sounds crazy but my youngest girl stuck a twig into the pass door lock and I had the same problems.
The fix was using my Craftsman assorted picks to remove the wood from the lock and some Aerokroil after.
