hey all.
question to all who know:
question1: is the ABS teeth/sensor on the 7th gen civics apart of the hub?
question2: are all civic 01-05 hubs the same?
because 44600-S5D-A00 is the part number for the hub for ALL year civics 01-05 EX/LX/DX
it is part #5 in the pix:

thanks guys.

Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
Q1: The teeth are on the axle housing. The sensor is separate from everything, its bolted on. $45 from the dealer, just replaced my passenger sensor last weekend. (01 ex)
Dont know about your second question.

Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
Ya the teeth is on the axle and the sensor is just bolted on to either the strut or knuckle I forget which one. Not sure bout your second question but if they all have the same part number then I would say they are the same thing.

Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
ok. sweet.
new question: is there a specific (specialized) tool to pull the whole hub assembly out (with the wheel bearing in the hub)?
because i know they have special tools to pull the bearing OUT of the hub...but im just going to replace the whole damn thing (bearing/hub)
and yes, i know ill have to press the bearing in the hub, i have a friend with the press. or ill use a giant socket.

Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
you may want to check part numbers on the hub. i cant remember but i think there were two different parts. check www.hondaautomotiveparts.com i know when i was looking up aftermarket hubs they showed two different numbers for ex vs the rest.

For new ABS rings you need #1: http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno=
For new sensors you need #s 14,15: http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno=
Yes, all front hubs are the same from 01-05 except SI. I literally looked at every single model from 01-05, same part #. I was bored. lol.

Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
No you wont need any special tools really. You just need the normal rachet set. You might want something to get the ball joint out of the control arm though. Thats usually a pain in the *** but dont use one of those fork things cause you will ruin the ball joint. Only thing else is the press.

and when u say ball join, what part do u mean? do u mean where the hub is connected to the lower arm?

Also a lot of hubs don't come with the bearings in them so you'll need to press that in too. The bearing needs to be done very carefully or you'll be replacing that again.

Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
i know advance auto does, but that prolly doesnt help. check all your local stores. maybe its different based on location. the napa and kragen here do not rent, but i know other locations do.
Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
On an 01 ex you will need a press IDK about other models. and remove the ball joint from the LCA with this http://www.tuner-junction.com/TJForu...val-trick.html

And ya most of the time the bearing is not on the hub when you order it. Just a tip when putting the bearing on and the hub on is use anti seize and oil together. It works like a charm on pressing them and helps out on how it spins to.

Re: civic WHEEL BEARING and HUB question
Ya man thats the only way you should separate a lower ball joint, if you ever work on a car with uppers this technique won't work. TIP: if it doesn't work right away force a thicker portion of the handle in the gap and try again, it usually takes a couple trys. Also...! don't remove anything aside from the castle nut and pin before you try this. For instance if you need to remove the whole LCA always separate the ball joint first then the bolts going through the bushings into the subframe. In your case you only need to free the knuckle, but for future reference.
Lastly, when you take your hub out with a press there is a really good chance that the inner wall of the old bearing will be stuck on the hub or in the knuckle, make sure everything comes out, esp from the knuckle otherwise you'll be wondering why your new hub wont seat properly. Just keep that in mind too.

Today after work I'm getting a new bearing and LBJ pressed into the hub, but a question that will hopefully make my world a bit easier...when I install the hub, which is the proper order? Axle, strut, LBJ? LBJ, axle, strut? Anything I should watch out for in the install?

"a 1/2" drive craftsmen wrench is placed between the hub assembly and the lower control arm. Then pressure is placed on the top of the hub which causes the gap between the lower control arm and the hub to get smaller (without a wrench there). With the wrench being there it causes the lower control arm to pop free from the hub. It may work on more cars other than honda/acura, it just depends on the design of the hub/lca."
You can see the handle of the wrench in the lower right corner, it drops to the floor. I swear this works. I've done it 3 times now.
