1991 SiR not getting enough power, its not the alternator
Hi. I am having a problem with my 1991 civic SiR. Its not able to power anything. Not the radio, lights, nothing. It will start up and run no problem. An example is if I use the turn signals, the car will die. Put it in reverse and the reverse lights come on, it dies ect. Obviously, I cant drive a car this way.
I replaced the alternator hoping that was the issue. It wasn't.
It started having this issue after I raced another Si.
Any suggestions other then getting a new project car?
Thanks

Re: 1991 SiR not getting enough power, its not the alternator
Electrical is frustrating. I had this issue with my old project '90 Si. My issue was, I was running a DOHC ZC with the stock 1.6L SOHC Si ECU. It ran great for a while, till I did the same, and raced a buddy. The car ran fine, till I shut it off and turned it back on. I ended up replacing the alternator with a high output one and it wasn't the issue either. Then I ordered a PM7 ECU off ebay. Got it brand new in the box for 97 bucks, installed it, and the car ran great. The PM7 also gives you higher RPMs so it wasnt a bad gig.
Hope this helps you out
