is this all a camber kit is???

ok i ordered a front and rear camber kit from Rob at tornactive. I had wanted Ingalls but he didn't have that and he suggested this brand " Specialty Products Company". So i said fine and 180 dollars later this is what i got. Is this all there is to it? 4 bolts for the rear and then the front 2 he sent me are for an accord so now i have to send them back but i'm guess the civic ones look the same....

All a camber kit does is add degree of angles to the ball joints that support the wheels and struts. It just changes the angle in which the tire sits when the car is lowered.

Usually, when you lower any car, the tires fold inwards at the top, depending on how low you go. I've seen cars being dropped to the ground and the front wheels are literally tucking into the fenders.

Not good for treadwear.

I got my front and rear Ingalls camber kits for $155 shipped. The rear from a group buy and the front from a member of this site.

I have a question about camber kits. If you lower a car just 1 inch, can you align the wheels properly without camber kits?

Grey has the correct camber kit for our civics. Make sure the ones you get are exactly like grey's. Also, the front camber kit for both wheels requires only 2 bolts.

The bolts are for the front of the car. If the front's cambe is only off by about a 1-2 degrees, one set of bolts will work. If it is worse, you need both. Normally, if you only use one pair, you remove the top strut bolts and replace them with the adjustabel cam bolts. My car used Eibach Sportlines and I only needed the top.

For the rear, you replace the rear top link with a unit that has an adjustable turnbuckle on it. Then you can adjust the wheel in or out.

Now, I had my alignment checked prior to installing the kit. My friend works at a tire shop, so we aligned as best we could without the kits. Castor, and toe in were all done to factory specs. The fronts were -1 degree. The rears were -1.5 degrees. Not that bad, but if you want to be right and get the best possible wear from those expensive tires, I would highly recommend getting the kits. Any amount of lowering is going to throw off your camber. Honda recommends the cam bolts in their service manual. So that is a no brainer and they are only $20. The rears cost about $155, I got mine at www.mmrusa.com. I would certainly go with the Ingalls if you have an EX. The problem is that the Progressive or Eibach don't mount the ABS sensor that well. The Ingalls works great with either the EX or DX/LX models.

Some may say that you don't need the camber kits, but my car was off. Now it is perfectly aligned. You make the call.
