HELP! CIVIC is not getting very HOT!

HEY, need some civic advice! I just bought a 94 civic 4 door. Here comes my problem, I replaced my radiator ( had a crack on top ) so refilled coolant, with cap off, started and let idle, and filled til full. Then cracked the vent fitting to let air out a few times. So I decided to let it run till the fan cycled and well it never did! checked the fan (ohmed-and hard wired) works good, so when I drove it the temp never got even half of the guage, when I turned on my heater the temp went lower! So today I went ahead and replaced the fan sensor and coolant temp sensor. o yea I did check the fuse and relay and wiring from relay to fan plug GOOD! So next thought is the thermostat is stuck open? This is where I am not shure!?? Any advice??? Thanks

Hey, I just did my timing belt w/p thermostat and both radi hose on my 91 and got the same result. The temp gauge only goes up 1/4 of the way not even to half. BUT I took it on a little road trip and had to go up some hills for a few mins,
and it started to get WAY hotter to where I had to run the heat to keep it at half way or just above on the temp gauge the rest of my trip.It scared the hell out of me cuz my temp gauge always stays low too,its always 1/4 of the way no matter what, freeway or in town.My fan works fine.

So I back flushed my system...so far so good, temp still 1/4 always.Maybe they are just normal like that? Sorry no solution, just thought Id let you know, you aren't alone! If you get some info let me know.

for "over cooling", my haynes manual lists:
faulty thermostat
inaccurate temp gauge sending unit.
but again this is for a 91 hope this helps.

thermostat sound to be the problem .. the car should get a little below half temp ... unless you are hammering on it then it will get to half temp .. but it sounds like you have a bad thermostat bud ... they are only 7-10 dollars and held in by i thing 2 10 or 12mm bolts.. good luck
