check engine light on

I have a 2000 honda civic. it has about 88 thousand miles on it. I just put a new muffler on, should have had a whole repaired in the exhaust system, changed both my front and rear oxygen sensors but the check engine light keeps coming on. before i bring it back to the shop again does anyone know why the light would keep coming on (and yes I even checked my gas cap).

Re: check engine light on

You can check the codes free of cost by jumping the 2 wires underneath your glove compartment to see what the problem is. When you jump the 2 wires together your check engine light will flash the codes which you will need to count.

Could be anything. The best thing to do to avoid spending a lot of money and have more tuning options would be convert to Obd-1 by just simply adding a ecu jumper harness OBD-2b to Obd-1 with Obd-1 ecu and you are set.

This will be eliminate the secondary o2 sensor, knock sensor depening on the model you have, crank position sensor, etc...

I disagree with the above. OBDII Honda cars have much faster processors and therefore are inherently more efficient. Tuning is also just as easy as OBDI.

Stop at any auto parts store for a free OBDII scan. That will quickly diagnose the item giving you trouble.
