dose anyone know how to make a pm3-8 head work on a 1990 civic dx
Re: dose anyone know how to make a pm3-8 head work on a 1990 civic dx
Ok so let me make sure I got this. Your civic has an engine code of d15b2, and the head you have and are trying to put on you car is out of the same engine code correct? The only difference is you have an automatic and the new head came out of a manual right?
Regardless of the transmission, heads should be direct fits. And I'll do some research for you, but I don't see why they don't just fit on the engine block. One last thing, what is pm3-8? I've never seen that on any engine before.

Alright, correction, I know what pm3-8 means but I never knew different heads didn't fit. I found this website that has a list of all the different head codes but it really doesn't say anything about them. I guess just go with what the other guys said and check a sohc forum and see if anyone has done this stuff.
The website I found is http://www.sohchonda.com/forums/inde...hreaded&start=
I found this pertaining to d15b2s, however, it doesn't seem to say a whole lot about the differences between the two.
D15B2
88 ?? Hatch Auto------------------PM3-8
90 LX D15B2 5sp------------------PM3-9 (9/0) stamped rs of code
91 CRX DX D15b2 5sp------------PM8-12
93 Civic Eg4 (EDM) D15B2 5sp---PM3-8 (9/4)
Good luck though, it may even just be easier to get whatever head you already have on your civic to lessen the headaches.

It's probably a direct fit, but there might be difference in the compression since you've got a slightly different head/block. Definitely do some research on the differences.
