modified stock intake?????

Searched but found no solid info on this topic....
What I'm talking about is simply taking the intake sesonator out and running a pipe from the open hole to the battery side. Has anyone actually tried this or am I the only ghetto one who is too cheap to get an Injen SRI ... What will it sound like?? Do you guys think it will sound like a true SRI?? hehehehe

thanks for the input

it'll be louder without the resonator. you don't even necessarily have to have the pipe running down to the opening. it'll sound louder

the resonator is held on with a few bolts. yes, it is totally reversible. it will not damage your car

I did this the second day I got my car. Took off the resonator and used a dryer vent hose to replace it.
I have an sri now and to be honest I didn't really notice any power difference between the two.
$150 down the drain.

honestly though, I've read some pretty bad things about the cheap-o Procarparts intake, I think a modded stock one would be better, no rubbing against the hood and that stuffs....

Yes I have.
I've learned all there is about the resonator and our intake manifold/throttle body and such. Wha I did was first I took off the big resonator and used a dremal to cut away the bottom so theres no bottom to the resonator...So when U look under the hood it's like stock, U dont see the hole(s) Sounded good but not entirely noticable. But now I jus took it off completely and it sounds the same, but a lil bit more rumble at the low RPMs.
If you mess wit ur stock resonator, be sure u check ur filter and how thas holdin up after teh change.
Good luck.

hahahahaha, I just got around to doing it today, it took me 10 mins and I had to go to pep boys to get an extension....this sound is intoxicating....really deep, I wonder though, does an SRI sound louder than this cause I think this is pretty loud....now I guess all I need is that K&N drop-in and it's set...hahahahaha
this is fun,
