Intrusive or Resistance Engine?
Someone was mentioning about intrusive or resistance (?) engines that will stop functioning when the timing belt breaks, which automatically prevents the pistons from knocking into the valves etc. and in essence damaging the engine block.
Anyway, what kind of engine block do we have for the 2k1 Civic?
Thanks

i never heard it called that b4. i usually hear interferance or non-interferance. anywayz in the past honda engines were interference meaning if you break the belt while the engine is on, its toast. but i don't know about the new ones.
Interference / intrusive engine = The valves open into the space where the piston would be at TDC
Non Interference / non intrusive engine = the valves open into "empty" space, the piston could be at tdc and the valves could be open and there would still be clearance between the valve and the piston
edit: d17 is intrusive
