Full RSX Suspension Swap, What are my Spring Options
Full RSX Suspension Swap, What are my Spring Options
Hi.
Its time to replace my springs/ maybe shocks.
Specs.
4Dr 01 Civic. w/ Full RSX Type S suspension/5bolt swap.
Currently dropped on ClubRSX Springs and OEM RSX suspension.
The rear pass. spring is broken, and the rest are worn out, so i need to replace all the springs.
Just wondering what are my options, since the RSX has a different F/R weight ratio, so the spring rates are different. or does it really matter that much.
Would like to avoid Coilovers (harsh Canadian winters, and cost)
Daily driver, with one trackday a year.

Re: Full RSX Suspension Swap, What are my Spring Options
its hard to give you replies when ur wording is so confusing and off.
lets start out here. if you have RSX suspension, then replace it with aftermarket RSX suspension.
having just a 5 lug swap doesnt mean you have RSX suspension.
if you have actual RSX springs+RSX struts, then you can replace them with any aftermarket made for the RSX.
however, the problem with RSX springs is that if it says 1.5" drop, it WONT BE 1.5" on ur civic because the RSX front end is alot heavier than the civic front end.
same goes with the rear.
for example, if it says 1.5" drop, expect a 1.2ish drop. but this is just an example of what to expect.
i dont think i have ever heard of a spring "breaking" and its even hard to imagine. if a spring breaks, ur totally FUKED and cant really drive the car.
did u mean to say the "strut broke/leaks" ???
my question is, WHY on earth did u get RSX suspension? i wouldnt install it even if it was free....(im not talking about the 5lug conversion, cuz that is totaly independent of haveing actual RSX spring/struts"

Yea, when have you ever heard of broken springs, that actually surprised me when I found mine broken last year. Good thing I got a set off a buddy that is nearly the exact same thing for free. I'll post a pic of it if I can dig it up from my pc. Its a good thing it broke at the bottom by the tighter part of the coil.

My parents Nissan quest Front driver side snapped after 15years, the body shop was surprised but they said it was probably from all the years of rust and corrosion left from Chicago's weather. Dunno haha

reviving an old thread.....
just an update.
my broken springs were Club RSX springs. apparently i wasn't the only one that had broken springs. Cheap material was prob used + canadian winters.
I picked up Canuck Motorsports springs . $150 shipped canadian $.
fit perfectly, had them on for about a month now + a trackday.
handled way better than my old springs. a little softer and compliant.
coil diameter is a little smaller than the CRSX springs, which prob why they are a little softer.
*** end a little higher than the front, but expected that since they are rsx springs.
