2nd and 4th gear issues
2nd and 4th gear issues
I have a weird problem and im hoping someone here can point me in the right direction as to what this could be, but here is what is happening:
At any speed, regardless if the engine is running or not, going from 1st to 2nd is really "stiff", almost as if the shifter is clogged with gum or something. Going from 3rd to 4th is exactly the same, however if i back out of 2nd or 4th into nuetral and then go back in gear its perfectly fine. Now when i put it in 3rd i hear a squeaking sound (like a rusty door hinge or something) and it seems to emit from the shifter itself (not the tranny).
I never seemed to have this issue until the temps here started getting into single digits.
Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this issue?? I've literally been skipping these gears when driving because its such a pain in the butt.
Thanks!

Re: 2nd and 4th gear issues
old & thick Transmission fluid + possibly worn synchros. Does double clutching make it go in to gear smoother? if it does, then its most likely a worn synchro issue.

Nope, in fact i can have the car completely off and not clutch at all and it will do it.
On my drive home tonight i didn't have any issues whatsoever, its the cold that triggers it. I had my tranny fluid changed 8000 miles ago as well.
