rattle from engine
rattle from engine
i have a 2001 5 door civic sport which has recently started to rattle in the engine. It has done 66k and has just been serviced, after which the rattle went away for a day or two. It generally appears at low revs - 2500 to 4000 rpm and when the oil is warmed up. There is also another noise that appeared at same time as rattle which only happens higher up the revs and is more squeeky. It amakes the noises most often when the throttle is pressed. The noises are pretty random and comes and goes and are definately linked. I was wondering if it is the heat shield or if anyone had any other suggestions? cheers
Re: rattle from engine
If i sounds like the rattle is a loose component then you just have to find it and tighten it. If it sound mechanical then I think it is it a VTEC problem. the oil passage actuator might be intermittenly going bad.
