94 dx losing power and cutting out

Hi Im new on these forums

Ive a 94 DX and lately its started driving terrible, it feels as if the car is not getting enough fuel and losing power. The other day when driving home the car randomly cut out, and i couldnt get it to start for more then a few seconds. i finally got it home by giving it high revs and keeping it in a high gear,it would be going great and then start losing power, and then start driving great again. Im thinking its ether the fuel pump or the carburetor, but Im not sure because there is a small hole in my catalytic converter. So i dont know if that is making a difference. If anyone has any idea about what is wrong with the car i would really appreciate it as Im lost without the car. Thanks.

I've got the same problem with my 94 LX. I've replaced the distributor [because I verified that it loses spark when it is bogging down] cap rotor, plugs and fuel filter. It's not fixed. The problem is very intermittent.

What was the end result of your car's problem?

Now the car won't start at all. No spark, but the fuel pressure is good. The main relay is fine and the map sensor is getting the correct 5 volts with the key on.
