1998 Civic moonroof not working

Hey guys,
I just bought a 1998 Civic DX last night for 800 bucks. I noticed that the moonroof makes a grinding type noise, and wont move. Any suggestions on ways to fix this myself?

Thanks!
Don

Sounds like the cables are busted or motor is busted....You're getting into big money there....I'd just leave it shut unless you have about $500 cash layin around!

Usually have to pay someone several hours to pull headliner, pull sunroof, & fix whatever........$80 an hour @ 5 hours is $400 labor + whatever parts you need

And 80 dollars an hour is cheap now-a-days

There is a screw looking plastic head in the center back part of the headliner behind the sunroof. If the sunroof ever gets stuck that is your "sunroof crank"
...ya know like a manual crank window.... use that to shut the sunroof manually!
