Name brand vs Generic Strut bars
is there a BIG difference between the two? or is it the same thing just with a name on it? Because im looking into getting a rear strut upper bar and there is a big price difference between the two. Is it worth it? or for looks?
Re: Name brand vs Generic Strut bars
well it depends on a few things. the only real differences are a single piece strut bar versus a multi piece. The solid single piece bars like the neuspeed front upper bar are better in comparison to most strut most multi piece bars. The multi piece bars have two strut mount brackets that are connected by a bar with a bolts connecting every thing, this design allows the bolts connecting things to act like hinges to an extent. Where there isnt much movement in these "hinge-like" areas, its still not as solid as the one piece that basically connect the struts directly.
So what im getting at is that its not necessarily the name brand difference rather the design. Granted the name brand are usually of better quality materials and fit better.
Im going to assume your looking at a Cusco rear upper versus a megan racing rear upper (Corsport is made by megan). Between the two i dont think you will see much of a difference between the two just because the rear uppers in general dont make a huge difference and i think they are both multi piece bars. so in short i would say that you won't be needing the high end bar unless you do shows. For the record i dont think there is a solid rear upper made for our cars.
Last thing i have to say though is do you have other suspension parts as well? I ask because this upgrade is pretty low on the list ( if not last) of things that will make a big difference in handling. I would say new springs with matching struts or coilovers would be a good first choice then some nicer sway bars and a front upper strut bar. After that you could worry about stiffening the rear lower and rear upper.
Thats just my thoughts on the best route to do a suspension though. You can do what you want
. Sorry if i over explained this a little but it was for your benefit and the people that are usually too quiet to ask questions and such. Hope this helps. I believe there is more info on the subject in the suspension FAQ but i honestly havent read it lol.

Re: Name brand vs Generic Strut bars
hmm well i have blues + s techs and a front strut bar already and a dc lower tie. and probably getting a rsx type s sway bar soon. the reason i wanted a rear upper strut was because im having crunk noises coming from the right rear when i make sharp left turns and some people said the noise is due to the body flexing and a mere upper rear strut would eliminate that noise. so yeah (=
Re: Name brand vs Generic Strut bars
same as the megan but a little cheaper: http://www.corsportusa.com/store/cat...roducts_id=381
as far as the noise being from body flex im not sure i have never heard of that before. im not sure but i would think that is from something being put back together incorrectly. i'm not an expert be any means though. maybe someone that has had a similar problem or a better answer will chime in.
