Odd problem w/heater

I have a 2001 LX 2 door, 205,000 miles, MTX. The heater refuses to blow warm at idle, but will blow warm while I am driving or accelerating. It also seems to cool down while cruising slowly. Anyone have any thoughts as to what might be causing this? Thanks.

Re: Odd problem w/heater

I would try draining the radiator and the whole coolant system and them refilling it and make sure you bleed out all the air out of it. If you have an air bubble in the system you can have the needle pegged all the way to Hot turn the blower on and it will only put out cold air.

So I would try bleeding the system first if you still have a problem do what hondarocks said and replace the thermostat.

1. when did u change the water pump last?
2. have u checked the thermostat, likely cause
3. have u checked ur coolant level
4. i would not drain and fill the radiator, unless its due, waste of money

huh waste of money? all it cost is a bottle of anti-freeze, unless your in a climate were your temps don't go below freezing and then you can get away with just water. Everyone I know that tracks there car drains and refills there coolant every spring and every fall, It's a good practice even if you don't track your car. If you can't afford a thing of coolant for $12 then I'm sorry IHMO you don't deserve to have a car.
