Does anybody know the answer to this ?...sorry to be so persistent
ok so as some of you know I've been posting trying to see if anyone could tell me where the sound im hearing might be coming from. Well today as i was driving out of my driveway as i pressed the gas (I have a 2001 automatic) i heard what sounded to be like either a sputtering sound or a grinding noise. It did it again 2 other times today and the noise only last for like 3 or 4 secs max. One of my friends said to check the spark plugs to see if any of them need clean ing or replacing. My question is would this be the solution to my problem or is it worser than i think
BTW, i just bought the car from a friend and they had the tranny replace with an 05 automatic that had 55k on it. Supposedly it has 3 months warranty but i really hope that it might be the spark plug issue cause other than that problem (which does not happen all the time) the car seems to run fine. Any help would be appreciated. And sorry to have posted so many threads, i just want to find what the problem is because my parents advised me not to buy a honda but i went against their wishes and dont want to pay for it

Hold down the brake and give it a little gas. Don't power brake the thing, but give it enough to put strain in the tranny and see if you can hear the noise.
Also, just a word of wise. Whenever you buy a new car do a tune up. In your case with a 2001.
1. Plugs
2. Check coils for signs of damage and replace if necessary, use a dab of diaelectric grease on them.
3. Air filter.
4. Use Carb Cleaner to clean up any build up in the throttle body
5. Use MAF cleaner to clean the sensor
6. Replace coolant and radiator cap
7. Change hoses as needed if they are cracked, soft, or bulging.
8. Run some fuel system cleaner
9. Replace Transmission fluid, and filter if necessary.
10. Oil/Filter Change
It eliminates a large list of things right away that could be wrong with it. And the car will love you for it.

No, put it in drive and hold the brake down. You want to put a little strain on the tranny to see if it makes the noise you are talking about.

Well i tried what you said and i didn't hear the noise. I dont know what else to do. My friends say its nothing and that im prob just crazy, but i dont want to take that chance that it actually could be something.

Well if your tranny was having issues that process should create a noise, either a grind, or a whine, or slippage.
Next step is to get to work on that tune up.
If you hear it after all that you start to look at a possible wheel bearing, bushings, etc.
Check the brakes make sure you don't have a caliper sticking, etc.
