2004 LX: weak cabin heat

My 2004 LX seems to have recently had trouble developing enough heat to warm the interior of the car. It has been lukewarm at best, though I did get a brief (20 seconds) burst of heat this morning.

After reading a few posts, it seems like people keep tying this issue to the engine cooling system. What would that have to do with the interior heat?

What should I check? The blower seems to be working fine...but the air coming out is too cool.

Check your coolant level. You may need to bleed your system if so. Worse case is you have a blown head gasket.

Hmmm...I don't understand. If I had a blown head gasket, then my antifreeze would be leaking out, right? Then my car would be overheating, right? Then I would have extra heat, not less heat, right?

What could be the cause of having such a low amount of heat emanating from the dash vents?

not true at all. I had a blown head gasket and my car would not overheat most of the time. Occasionally it may go higher than normal but I didn't realize it at first. I would have no heat at a light and then heat when I was driving. Also my coolant would be low but still be a little bit there and I would not see any leaks on the ground since it would leak in the engine. If that is not your case then it could be the thermostat is stuck which is giving you mild heat. Take a look at the coolant.

could be alot of things. clogged heater core passages, bad thermostat, bad radiator cap, bad water pump, low coolant, air in the system, head gasket leak, etc. have any work done recently?

The reason everybody is asking about the coolant is because thats how the
inteiror heater works. Think of the heater like a radiator and your blower moves air past it hence you get heat. So if you have low coolant there is not enough to circulate thats why you could get low heat. The sudden burst of heat could be from coolant splashing into the heater core. Or you could have a semi stuck thermostat I would watch the temp gauge and check fluid and then go from there
