steering issue?

this all happened when i changed over to tein basic coilovers

the issue is when i got the car aligned, the steering wheel would feel very light, lighter then usual, but when i drove it for a few days the steering wheel would tend to become harder to a point its really hard to make turns or change lanes without using force. i've checked my power steering fluid and it seems fine. the fluid is at the normal mark which is under the top line and over the bottom line, and whenever i make a turn. i can see the fluid move in the resovoir. i dont think the ps pump has failed, and there are also no noise coming from the ps. If i lift the vehichle, and relieve the wheels from the ground, the steering would go back to light, and after a few days it wouldl go back to hard. the steering would go from very light to very hard, i just want it to stay in the middle

anyone know what the problem is? can it be something to do with the tie rods?

Re: steering issue?

doubt its tie rods, might be the bearings in the top mount on the struts, is it popping or anything?

Re: steering issue?

sounds like you are having problems adjusting the the final handling after it settles. I notice the same thing with a different setup but the principles remain the same. When the car is on a lift and the wheels hang free it handles like a dream but when it settles the ride becomes a bit rough and the characteristics change a bit. I am sure others have experienced this. Bump for some more opinions.

Re: steering issue?

there is no popping sound whatsoever. its feb now and got the coilovers installed in october. it should be settled by now. the alignment seems pretty good. car goes straight, there is no pull, and the steering centered.

Re: steering issue?

How is the camber? Tire pressure? Sounds like you are talking about the car going from an oversteer condition to an understeer condition.
