timing belt fun...

well, im about half way through the timing belt process, belts came off, alternator off, power steering off, motor mount off, valve cover off...

next step is to loosen the crank pulley, all i can say to me is good friggin luck, wish i had my impact at home, it would be so much easier, but alas, no compressor at home... anyway, gonna try and break free the bolt tomorrow, im out of light at this point, hood closed, tools put away, and wheel back on, still on jack stands....

ps, i got the actual install directions from honda, their parts guy printed em off for me!!! sweet right, if i can find a scanner, ill post em up, cuz they are great, with torque specs and all

Re: timing belt fun...

pulley tool on 1/2" drive socket, get the socket wedged between the axle and the LCA, 5' aluminum jack handle slipped over a breaker bar with a 1/2" drive 19mm socket on it. Take off the bumper and lean on the jack handle.... it'll pop loose.

Is the crankshaft pulley bolt left or right handed threads?

Re: timing belt fun...

Just to be clear before I do something crazy, its left handed thread. Meaning clockwise rotation removes the bolt.

Black7Ice will become famous soon enough
Re: timing belt fun...

When i did my timing belt it was right hand threads, counter-clockwise to loosen.

what i did since i didn't have the fancy crankshaft holder was a 2" nut with a matching 3/4" drive socket and a pipe wrench with the 19mm socket inside the 2" nut and a 1/2" drive extension going out to a T handle and some cheater bars. I'll see if i can get pics up later.

props to getting ahold of the honda tech sheets, i didnt think of that
