02 civic suspention lowered BANGING???
ok I hate this. I have an 02 civic and Im lowered on progress springs and tokico blues.
and let me tell you
I HATE IT. every bump i hit it SLAMS like its bashing into my bump stop. I have it cut more then halfway and it still hits hard.
Is this suppose to be like this?
It's so shitty when im going fast down a road and i hit a bump and loose control. these are only a few weeks only and have done it since I lowered ughh

that's shitty. could there be anything wrong with the springs or dampers?? was everything new?? Struts leaking at all?? Did you DIY the install?? Are you sure it's right?? How low is it when it's just sitting there?? could be any number of things. search around the site, see if anyone with that setup has had problems. good luck getting this worked out.
Re: 02 civic suspention lowered BANGING???
i'm on blues and eibach reds and i have no problems. did you DIY? if yes then you might have f'ed something up. if not, then take it back to the shop and have it checked. sounds like a strut problem if it's stiff. if you're bottoming out, the springs are too soft. i dunno man, but get it checked out, suspension problems can ruin a car faster than anything.
Re: 02 civic suspention lowered BANGING???
The drop on Progress springs is a little more than 2 inches right? I'm pretty sure they're too low for the Blues, but I'd call Tokico to be sure.
Re: 02 civic suspention lowered BANGING???
my first question is, did you trim the bumpstops when you replaced the springs and struts/shocks?
second, as monkee said, was everything new? how low is it at rest? crawl underneath and see if you have any clearance issues, look for damage, signs of rubbing, dents, etc...
if you can't find any visible damage, you may have to replace your shocks as they may be blown. are you hauling around a lot of stuff in your car? subs/amps, tools, fat chicks?? start simple and work your way toward more expensive man. GL to you

Yes everything was brand new.. and it's happened since I lowered it.
everything is right. its comming from the front. the bumpstop is cut 1/2 off. and I have a feeling its still hitting it...
blah damn civics, i miss my accord

Have you solved your problem yet?
Look into your fender well and see how compressed the springs are when the car is on the ground. If the coils are almost touching each other or are touching each other, thats probbably the problem. You do not have enough suspension travel period.
You'll need different springs to get rid of that.

Re: 02 civic suspention lowered BANGING???
i know this is sounds stupid but you didnt reverse the springs right, front on the rear. that will give you similiar results since the rear spring rate is not designed to hold the weight of the engine. otherwise contact progress and talk to them about swaping out to higher spring rates. most companies will help if you pay for the shipping.

Stupid question... But have you bothered to go back over the install and make sure all the bolts are tight? If the upper mount is loose it makes an awful racket.
"Banging" typically means something is loose.

i'd also highly recommend going back through and checking your install. any time i have replaced suspension components on my car, i usually drive for a week then go back through and TORQUE all the bolts and nuts. even having something TOO tight can make noise. also, i really do think progress springs drop the car too low for blues.
