Engine/tranny shakes at low RPM takeoff.

I've had this problem since I bought the car, a 97 DX 5-speed in stock configuration, 105k miles with new tranny fluid in it. The problem is that if I don't rev high enough and I engage the clutch, the whole engine/tranny will shake really bad. This shake will even happen when driving really slow where low-rpm is a must.

However, if I leave the car sitting for like a day without it being driven --the longer the better-- the problem disappeares. My friend told me that he was listening to Click & Clack, and a man with a 5-speed accord phoned in and said that his engine shakes if he doesn't rev hard enough. The response was that either a spring is worn in the clutch or tranny (can't remember which) or there is dirt on the clutch plate. Something like that. But what spring would that be? Sounds like my problem since if I let the car sit, the tranny feels as it should, indicating that a spring has regained tension.

What do you guys think?

Eh, there's really nothing wrong with it. I'm just sinking the clutch in too far and too quickly--gotta baby it in.

sometimes when there is shaking or chattering it could be a sign of oily greased clutch

it has nothing to do with your clutch. You have a broken or torn motor mount. Get underneath the car and check all of your motor mounts. I guarantee one of them is torn..most likely the front one. I know on our cars, the motor mounts are notorious for tearing. It sure wouldnt hurt to change the clutch with that many miles, but that isnt whats causing your shake. Check the mounts.

to test the mounts either put the car in first gear and press the break down at the same time and have someone check how much the motor moves....OR the easiest one to check ....get a pry bar BIG ONE! or something big and stiff (hehe) O_O!! and put it against the subframe and move the engine see how much it moves hope that helps
