1997 Civic EX -Needs Work- (on eBay)

Vehicle Description

1997 civic EX (165k) that needs some work.

Major Problems:

Exhaust leak at manifold

Transmission just started slipping out of 4th gear

Driver side rear door dented (I have a replacement door just need it painted)

Rear and front bumper cracked

Paint chipping

Salvage Title

Needs Timing belt and water pump replaced soon
It also has a problem with the starter, when trying to start the car, sometimes it wont turn over (you have to keep on turning the ignition a couple of times to get the starter to turn). I think its the wire to the silenoid because i had the starter checked out at autozone and it worked fine. I have a remote start installed in the car and this may also be part of the problem. This problem comes and goes, sometimes it works fine for a couple months and sometimes it gives me trouble every other time i try to start it. Its probably an easy fix but i'm no mechanic and really havent got around to looking at it.

There are some other minor problems but nothing that you wouldn't expect to happen to a car that is 10 years old with 165k miles.

Ive had the car for about 6 years and since it had around 30,000 miles. Its been a great car, its had a salvage title since i bought it and im not sure exactly what happened to make it a salvage.

The transmission just started slipping the last time i drove the car. It drives fine up to about 50 mph and then it goes into 4th gear and slips out and continues this if you try to go faster.

I was planning on selling the car anyway but now this started going bad. I thought of fixing it but i just spent alot of money buying a new car and i dont think i have the extra cash to invest in the car. I priced a used transmission from a ebay seller for about $300 and about $250 to have it installed from a local mechanic. So its not a very expensive fix but i just cant take care of that right now.

Im not sure how much i want for the car but if i get the right offer i will sell it in a heartbeat. I encourage you to come take a look at the car if you live in the area so you can get an idea of what your bidding on.

Mods :

Custom exhaust from the cat (i had the resanator taken off and bigger piping from that back to the tunable muffler)
"Angel Eyes" Halo projector head lights

17in Wheels and tires (in pictures) are not included with car (I have a set of CRX Si wheels and tires that will come with the car.)

Re: 1997 Civic EX -Needs Work- (on eBay)

The following is just a repsonse from a question i had and i thought i would like to clear it up for anybody that had the same thoughts.

>>>>

The paint on the hood has some big chips in it, i tried to put some touchup on it a while back but i didnt get it good and it chipped bigger. If I was to keep the car i was planing on getting the door put on and getting new front and rear bumpers and just getting the whole thing painted.

About the rims, i just bought a 2000 civic si, and i like my old rims, i was planning on putting em on the new car. The Motegi 17's aren't in great condition anyway they have some scrapes on em and i gotta still fix a couple of tires that i just found some bubbles in. The CRX rims, i have 5 of em, 4 with tires. The tires probably need to be replaced but i just figured they would do for the time being, just to get rid of the car.

The exhaust, i have never had it checked out but im pretty sure there is a leak somewhere in the manifold. When the car warms up the noise from the leak gets quieter but if say your idleing in the winter you will get some exhaust fumes coming into the vents. As for the stock exhaust, i had a aftermarked exhaust for years, im sure a new muffler wouldn't cost much, but i have had a bigger pipe installed from the cat back and they took off the resantor. So it might be a little louder than stock.

As for the price, i really dont know what its worth so i just wanted to place it on ebay to see what an auction would get me. I have described the car as best as i can, i am no mechanic so i can't get into details about everything that is wrong with it but thats why the auction is a no reserve and the highest bid is what you feel the car is worth.

Other things i forgot to mention:

I installed new Rotors and Ceramic pads (no brake dust) on the front axle less than 4000 miles ago (april 2007)

Stock headlights are included with the car

The front speakers are Infinity Kappa 6.5's but the tweeter in the middle of both of em unglued. One still works but the other is disconnnected right now.

Two new half shafts installed in the past year or so.

Im not looking to get alot for the car just how much the bidding goes up to. The car is being sold as is and the highest bidder will win the auction. Please bid accordingly.

thanks for looking and if i think of anything else ill post it before the auction ends.
