2002 EX coupe -- Clicking sound from clutch when engaging and disengaging. Any ideas?
2002 EX coupe -- Clicking sound from clutch when engaging and disengaging. Any ideas?
I am hearing a clicking sound, a single click, whenever I engage/disengage the clutch. I am not experiencing any slipping or spongy pedal behavior, but the sound is quite annoying and I know it isn't supposed to be happening. It sounds like a small metal clip or spring is moving whenever the clutch and flywheel meet.

Mine does the exact same thing, went to honda and talked to one of the mechanics and he said its nothing to worry about, more of a hassle to get fixed because of the labour.. sorry about my useless post with 0 facts but i can't remember what he called it. I didn't get mine fixed.. it goes away for a bit and then comes back etc.

Got the same problem. It's more of an annoyance than anything else. Been driving with it for maybe 2 years now. No issues. Nothing to worry about.
I would like to know what is the cause of it however.

i have one question do any of you have a system were you had to drill a hole by the clutch pedal.if yes you might have drilled through the seam that is by the clutch. i have the same problem but mine is caused by circuit shitty drilling a hole on my firewall seam and that why its making my noise.
Re: 2002 EX coupe -- Clicking sound from clutch when engaging and disengaging. Any id
well from what i remember its either the master or slave cylinder. if you push in the clutch and hear a noise outside the car like a clicking squealing type of noise its the slave cylinder. if you only hear the loud annoying clicking noise on the inside its the master cylinder. if you guys do a search you should find information on this problem. my clutch does the same thing on the inside but i havent had time to change the master cylinder.

you can use white lithium grease n spray down there (like were the clutch pedal goes through the firewall) but it will wear off eventually especially when it rains. same thing for the slave cylinder you can clean it with wd40 or some type of cleaner and then load it with the lithium grease.

^ I dont think you have to worry about the lithium grease washing away with the rain inside the cabin. You should of seen my boot though, looked like something outta a gangbang ending scene.
I was teaching my buddy to drive my car last night, and man... he kept making the clutch click. I think it happend only when he was pressing the clutch in, and beaking at the same time... same thing happening with you guys?

You are a brave man Triz... I never let someone drive my car if they dont know how to drive manual. Thumbs up for showing someone the light of driving manual though.
Was the clutch pedal all the way in and not moving while the clicking sound was happening?

mine clicks twice when i put in my clutch. i have only been driving it for 3 months so i dont know what its suppose to do.
Re: 2002 EX coupe -- Clicking sound from clutch when engaging and disengaging. Any id
I guess I could try and be clearer about the problem. As the clutch is about to meet the fly, it clicks. There is a single click. Forward or reverse. Up and downshift. It happens on 1st and 2nd...sometimes 3rd. It sounds like a clip or some small piece of metal meeting another. As I said, I haven't lost any performance from the clutch. I raced it the other night and hung in with a big fat 300hp silverado, cuz I had a nice hi-rev launch. I'm taking it in for scheduled maintenance and there's a guy there thats pretty smart. I'll ask and provide any info I get.
