Guages having problems! help!

OK, my dad has an 02 ex civic, and every time we start it the guages are flipping out like so....guages. is there a problem with the ecu?

try this:

1. push/hold the trip button.
2. turn the lighting switch on.
3. turn the ignition switch on.
4. (within 5 seconds) turn the lighting switch OFF, then ON, and OFF again.
5. (within 5 seconds) release the trip button
6. push and release the button 4 times repeatedly.

this starts the gauge cluster self diagnostics...

the beeper will sound
the lights will flash
the LCD will flash
the needles will sweep

if they/one does not sweep properly, replace the cluster.

to exit diagnostics, turn off the ignition.

thanx i will try this tomorrow morning. but when u mean sweep u mean the needle will go from 0 to MAx right?

I did the check and all of the gauges swept. So now im wonderin wats causin he problem still???

checked all the fuses and replaces the battery. no problem yet...just in case someone else has this problem in the future

mine has done this randomly when my battery has died or has been close to dying if that helps

ya i replaced the battery, and that took care of the problem
