Insurance
I have a question for everyone here. Is your insurance going up?? Mine is, and I have no accidents, and no claims on my policy. My insurance company told me that its the rate group of the car. I want to know if anyone else's insurance is going up for no apparent reason as well.
On another note. I got a quote from my insurance company for an s2000, and it was cheap than my civic. I find that so wierd.

Insurance usually goes down a lot when you turn 25, get married, and buy a house. It goes up when you cause an accident, move to a more crime ridden area, or the insurance company needs to make a few extra bucks to pay out a bunch of claims (or bonuses to their CEOs).

I'm 27 dude. Like I said, I don't have any claims or accidents, and I live in the same area as I did last year. My area is not known for crime.
I live in CT and as you may or may not know Hartford, CT is like the insurance capitol of the USA. Up until last Dec I worked for a software company that sold policy/claims software. The big secret is that insurance companies up until recently never made big money on selling insurance - they made their money on investing. Some of them even bought brokerage firms (Travellers & Smith Barney). So when 9/11 hit and the stock market turfed, they had to figure out how to make money selling insurance. One way is to jack up people's policies for no f-ing apparant reason. Throw in a few disasters like Andrew and New Orleans and guess who pays for it? And it ain't comming out of any exec's bonus fer sure. (I could go on...)
Anyways, shopping around is good. The industry could use a little competition to help bring premiums down. (BTW - Try increasing your deductibles.)
Good luck dude. Don't take any sh-t from those bastards.

Just curious, how much do you guys pay a year?? (some with an si please respond). I heard you pay a little more for having an si for some reason. Oh by the way, if you don't feel like posting the amount you pay a year, you can pm me.
Thanks.

Well, here's the update. I did some comparison shopping. Every company I got a quote from, gave me pratically the same numbers. State farm only gave me $1 difference a month. I could care less about $12 a year. I guess it really depends on where you live (I live in a good neighbourhood), however I do live close and work near one of the worst intersections (Hwy #7 and Weston rd). The intersection was in the top 10 for most accidents in the gta. I think it was pretty high up there. I think that could affect my insurance as well. Who really knows though. I guess I could change my deductibles are too, if I want to save more money. I guess there are a lot of different factors that can affect your insurance, even if you have a good driving record.
Anyways, thanks for your help guys.

Question for everyone here. Will they check my car out before they sign me up if I were to switch companies?? I got a cheaper quote from statefarm w/life insurance. My month payments would be cheaper w/ life insurance, and more without it. It doesn't make sense to me, but whatever is cheaper.
My car is modded like most people here, so will they ask me to pop the hood, and trunk and stuff like that??? Obiviously when the car is new, it doesn't matter because you have no mods, so has anyone insured a used car with statefarm before??

However, the agent I spoke on the phone with, told me if I wanted to actually sign up with them. I should go down to the office where they work out of, and fill out all the info with them there. I live the down the street from them.
I know my old car (89 acura legend), when I was with the co-operators insurance. They actually came to my car and checked it out. The agent went inside my car, and checked out everything, including the aftermarket deck I put in before insuring it. So I don't know if your right or not.
Anybody else have any thoughts on this.
Hhhmm.. maybe I should take my dad's or mom's car down to the statfarm office, and see if they actually want to check out the car or not. That way, I don't have my car there, however if they want to check out my car, I have to go back home and get it. I could just be like "uhh, my car's at home".
