im doing a b18 swap in my 1992 civic eg hatch ... well when i start my car it idols up to 4000 rpm ... i need help... i changed my headgasket.. i know its not my tps sensor bcause i just replaced it... and its not my throttel cable... and its not my water temp. sensor or my 02 sensor ... what else can it be thanks guys...

when its really cold out side, n u first start ur car, it shoots up to that much.....then it should die down in a min or so.....

is urs ALWAYS doing that, or just cold starts?

Does it shoot up there and stay there or does it fluctuate? Check your PCV and IACV.

ps it's spelled IDLE, I just had to correct that.

also, check ur brake booster......i remember when i forgot to plug back my BB from seafoaming....... my engine shot up like 4k n then idled at like 2k.... (that whole day)

i mean i use to like idel at 3000 rmpm but it would go down after like a couple minutes but we have left the car on for about like 10 min or so and it does the same thing ... if the car doesnt have enough oil can that affect it ?

its your IAC. get some throttle body cleaner and clean it.
