Battery Light is on even though i have a new battery

My battery light came on a few days ago. I recharged it overnight but the next day my battery died and the car wouldn't start. So, i went and bought a new battery from kragen. Once connected, the car didn't start up right away; but, eventually after a few minutes it cranked over.

Driving home my battery light came on and went off. It's being doing so consistently since monday night. I have noticed that the light will go off once the rpms go over 3500 and will drop once they drop below that or my speed decreases. I also noticed that the light may come on during turns.

My car has 71,000 miles on it; and, as far as i can see, the belts look okay.

Nearing six months ago, i noticed a significant build up of corrosion on the positive terminal on the battery. Despite my cleaning efforts, it would return frequently.

Is it my alternator? Any help would be appreciated.

battery light means your alternator is dead or not providing enough power. when you rev up it seems that it makes enough power to turn the light off but then it comes back when rpm drops down. def need a new alternator (and battery cause you prolly ruined the new one). get dielectric grease and put on the terminals once you clean them.

the light wont come on for a bad battery, its only if there is a charging system problem.
