New fatmat??
New fatmat??
I was reading threads from a year or two ago about fatmat and the smell that comes along with it. I saw on their site though that it is a butyl material just like the raammats. ( http://www.fatmat.com/fatmat/bulk/100ft.htm ). Is this a new kind of fatmat that hopefully wont or shouldnt smell or is this the same stuff as before?
Looks like they just added the word butyl, everywhere else they still talk about "rubberized compund" with a 1mil PSA. None of it makes sense. Because of the way this stuff is manufactured, it isn't possible to add a 1 mil PSA. Be very careful. To get an idea of who you would be dealing with, go back a few pages in the eBay feedback for the ID they abandoned a few months ago.
Try their current eBay Feedback I'm telling you, these guys are on the edge. When I ordered some from them for Sound Deadener Showdown, it took 2 months to get from PA to MD. They never answered any e-mails and every time I called they told me it had just shipped.
FatMat IS MDM Peel & Seal. If you are determined to use a low quality asphalt roofing product in your car, just go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy PEEL & Seal. It is exactly the same and will cost less. It doesn't stick well, smells bad, doesn't deaden anywhere near as well as butyl based mats and can actually melt during the summer.
