Car totaled, need help bad

Okay guys, i recently totaled my civic and so today i'm going to the dealership to take a look at it, now i definately need my stereo out of the car (Alpine CDA-9856). The problem is i got the thing professionally installed for a reason, so i wouldn't have to deal with it. The problem is the dealership won't touch the stereo system and i have to get the place where i origianly got it installed from to get it out, and they may not even drive down to the dealership but even if they would.. i'm sureit would cost a ton of money, something i really don't have.. So if you guys know of any good very descriptive (including pictures) tutorials on how to do it for an 01 Civic LX help would be greatly appreciated!! gusy i know this is a bit of a bad post but i have to get this done within 3 days before it leaves the dealership and goes to the dump i guess. that's a good 200$ down the drane. thanks guys!!

Here is a the diy: http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=211259

Unsure if you have stick or auto.

If it is a stick then just pull on the silver ring below the shift **** to seperate the shift **** from the shifter boot.

On the 01's its a little different then in the diy
1. Take out cigarette lighter/pocket piece by grabbing it and pulling straight back
2. Disconnect cigarette lighter wire
3. Then follow steps 7-9 on the diy link posted by PunkingCivic

You could also take out your install kit, someone on this site may need one

wait if it is a after market deck and you just need the deck then find some alpine keys. The place you bought it from should have them and should be able to describe how to use them.

i wouldn't mind selling it if i get another can that it won't fit in. Also, mine's a manual, it's also a sedan. Sorry if i wasn't too descriptive earlier, i was in a bit of a hurry to get to the dealership. Also,

well basically tweeter was no help, they said i would have to get the car towed from the dealership to tweeter... might as well buy a new head frame for that cost.. anyways.. i think i could be able to pull this off actually. I'm going back tomorrow to see if i can't get the stereo out. I'd rather end up breaking it and leaving the stock one than just leaving my expensive (for my budget at least) stereo to be ruined. also what are these keys your talking about?? what do they do and how much easier would it make this whole business?

also, if you guys wouldn't mind mind telling me what wires i need to take with me, or any of them that i probably had to pay for the first go around, thanks a ton guys

keys slide between the deck and the cage/bracket that holds the radio in place. You slide them in and they push the prongs that hold the radio in place out of the way. Then with the keys in you just pull the deck out. As long as there were no bolts holding it in. then with the deck out you can just pull the dash kit out and slap the stock one in there in 2 minutes.
I am at work and all the sites that would have pics are blocked

Search google: "alpine removal keys"

these are for sony but they all kinda look alike doesnt mean they all work for any brand.

Personally just break the bottom of the dash kit(get a flat head between the dash kit and console and pop it up) if the keys dont work. yank the radio out and throw the stock one in there.

thanks guys! got the radio pulled out pretty simply actually, i first went upto my car, literally rippeed out the cigarette lighter (beyond repair) put my hand up under it. Didn't feel anything important or usefull. At this point i was getting a little antsy (literally, there were ants all in my car) and so i just said hey what the heck, i'll just take a flatheat do the dash, the car's totaled anyways right? so i put the flathead between the dash and the mounting bracket. Pulled gently at first, then it popped out haha. it was that simple. So now i'm even more worried about it getting stolen because it was that easy to take out hahaha
