Carpeted Rear Deck
I remember seeing this somewhere on here, but now I can't find it. Who did it? Pics? DIY? Thanks.

there is no DIY.
I dont have pics of carpeting under the trunklid, but ive got that too. if I'd known the hybrid had that, id have checked it for fitment. as it was, I just attached two 1/4 inch hardboard pieces after carpeting them to match my trunk.
good eye saris! used to race with the cal poly wheelmen, downhill. I was terrible. best I ever did was 9th out of 18, and that was men's C's. But that was good enough to win points for the college! Every bit counted on the road to nationals

I never said this was my solution. My solution was to stick a folded piece of paper in between the third brake light and the window. Works like a charm.

I used trunkliner. you can use anything you want, as long as it is non backed stretchy carpet. Doesnt have to be elastic, but if you tug on the carpet it has to give a little. thats how it can conform to the compound corners around the brakelight.
I did cut around the keyhole, but not in the way I think you are thinking.
I removed both the tail light, and the keyslot. I then carpeted right over it as if there was something there.
later, I came back and pushed on those areas to stretch out the carpet to get as much material as possible in that space. I then sprayed the carpet and the plastic on the inside.
when ready, I slotted the carpet well away from any edge, and folded it around the plastic edging. I also did this around the entire perimeter of the rear deck.
this way, there were no carpet seams anywhere, just a nice folded edge. inside, the deck carpeting looks atrocious, but noone sees that part. after I reinstalled the keyslot and tail light, I dont even see a carpet edge. you can see how that turned out in the photo.
its been years and there are still no frayed edges of carpet around that light. like there would be if I had simply cut around it.

Ive had that rattling since the car was brand new with 2 miles on it...I took foam pipe insulation that i got when I worked at home depot and stuffed it between the window and the rear deck...cant even see it. I also put it between the window and the headliner. Ceiling rattles suck!
